:: PROGRAM DESCRIPTION :: Heads on Fire is pleased to announce the launch of our new ECHOES project. Working in close partnership with Christina Glavas, Minds Wide Open, ECHOES provides training in journalism, digital photography, video editing, audio production, and interactive game design to enable youth expression, and foster global understanding. The dedicated participants work on Saturdays to develop their design skills and be part of a global education curriculum project. The result will be a nationally distributed CD-ROM magazine containing multimedia journalism pieces produced by the ECHOES team along with entertainment sections such as music and game reviews. The work will include traveling to different sites to conduct interviews, as well as production and design time spent in the lab. Global themes such as imagery, oral histories, languages, community orientation and cultural heritage, and other international issues will be used as a backdrop for our work. The ECHOES training is free and open to San Diegans aged 14 - 18, but participants must apply and be willing to make a 10 month commitment. Call 619.232.9573 for details.
