Thank You

To all the interns and supervisors I wish to give a heartfelt Thank You. When I approached Xavier and Katie hoping to help out, I did it because I though I had something to offer the lab and the community. Little did I realize that in a few short weeks I would get so much back. You are all amazing! The growth that I have seen in you is awesome and in a very personal way very heartening. At times, as a father I have despaired in not seeing a good future for my daughter, truly asking myself what the world was becoming.

My Overall Experience at Fab Lab

I have never had any kind of work experience nor have been involved in any internship. Being my first time as an intern at the Fab Lab, I feel that it was one of the best choices I have made so far in my high school years. I did not intentionally aim to come here, but I did however take the initiative to apply for SDFF, which lead me here. Everything that has occured in this internship has impacted not only my knowledge, but also my judgements on people.

My Experience at the Fab Lab..

In the six weeks that I have been working at the Fab Lab, I have learned many things. I have learned how to use and operate many different machines. I have learned to use the laser cutter. I have used the laser cutter to make different objects such as a keychain. I also learned how to use the vinyl cutter. The vinyl cutter makes stickers. I have made lots of stickers. Thirdly, I have learned how to solder. I helped with the making of a Drawdio by soldering the circuit board.

my experiences at the Fablab

My four weeks spent here at the Fablab have been a fun and challenging learning experience. I have learned many new things since I’ve been here including using the various equipment as well as learning new things about the computer that I thought I already knew so much about. I learned how to use a vinyl cutter, which cuts out and makes stickers.

Fab Lab Exp.

I am so glad I applied to this work at SDFF because without them I wouldn't have known about this Fab Lab close to my home, I did not think It was possible to start working at a Fab Lab with computers and different machines also this place happens to be connected to MIT. The materials and the machines used here are just a part used at works colleges and even here at the Fab Lab.

What I Learned In The Fab Lab.....................

During this intership in the Fab Lab, I learned a lot of things that I never tought I would work with. This experience helped me in alot of ways, personally, and profesionally. The Fab Lab teached me various things that are going to help me in the future. For example, I learned a lot of the solar panels and how they work, my first sketch of a structure and I finally made something that came out right, the drawdio. This experience also kept me busy from other stuff, which I really apreciate that because I actually worked for something usefull.

Experience at the FAB LAB

In my experience at the fab lab. I learned alot of skills even if I haven't mastered the skills. I had never done anything with machinery in my life before. Every software and equipment was new to me. I felt like I was in different world. The one important thing I felt that I learned would be that I attained work experience. Being in highschool you really aren't exposed to much hands on work. In the future I will probally get more internship postitions in jobs that deal with electronics so that I can learn more about electronics.

Summer Internship Reflection

Over the course of the past eight weeks, I have worked as a paid intern at the San Diego Heads on Fire Fab Lab where I have learned many skills that can be applied both personally and professionaly, such as soldering electrical components, GPS mapping and the creation of three-dimensional architectual sketches. My experience here has also given me a perspective of others' lives and their benefits from and to technology.

What I learned

During my summer internship at Fablab I learn a lot of things here. We were taught how to use technology to make almost anything in our daily life. At Fablab we have machines like shopbot, epilog machine, Modella and the 3D printer and also the vinyl cutter machine. During this time I been here, I think I have master 2 machines, the epilog laser machine and the sticker machine. I also have learn how to use Adobe Illustrator, this program enable me to draw all the things on before I transfer it to any of the machine to cut it out.
