To all the interns and supervisors I wish to give a heartfelt Thank You. When I approached Xavier and Katie hoping to help out, I did it because I though I had something to offer the lab and the community. Little did I realize that in a few short weeks I would get so much back. You are all amazing! The growth that I have seen in you is awesome and in a very personal way very heartening. At times, as a father I have despaired in not seeing a good future for my daughter, truly asking myself what the world was becoming. I must admit as a protective father, I may have my moments of being overly cynical but nonetheless, I despaired. Today ALL of you proved to me that there is hope. A LOT of hope. The way everyone interacted with the congresswoman sent chills up my spine. You represented yourselves so well! You really showed the intelligent, good willed, cooperative young adults that you are. You proved to her and to me that there is a lot of hope in the upcoming generations. That, with the right young adults, a little bit of guidance, a good amount of trust, and, honestly, some awesomely cool machines, 8 weeks is all it takes to make a group that has the capability to change the world if they see fit.
I know for a fact that the Congresswoman went over schedule with us and that is only for one reason, YOU ROCKED! I was floored at some of the interactions! You guys at times sounded like graduate students!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! You showed so much courage in joining the program, such humility in asking for help, both from the supervisors as well as from each other, such dedication when things did not go your way, such creativity, such amazing abilities!
I only wish that Katie and Xavier had been there today. FabLab is a labor of love, and today you, the interns showed truly and resoundingly that the venture is worth all of the sacrifice.
Personally I thank you for the hope, for the lessons you have taught me, and most of all, for allowing me to help (hopefully), in the tinniest way to you blossoming. I for one, am a better person for having met and worked with all of you, my heart and soul are the better for it.
