It is the ancient concept recently returning to scientific thought that examines nature, its models, systems, processes, and elements. It is a fusion of two words, Bios which means life in ancient Greek and mimesis which also is in Greek and means to copy or imitate what something does.
Biomimicry can be implemented by innovators by identifying which means a brief design for something that humans need like a tree that collects carbon dioxide. Some of the tools that an innovators could use are interpreting, discovering, abstract design principles in nature, emulating and evaluating. Interpreting which is asking your self how nature does it and how it works to our advantage. Discovering is another one of the tools that would be useful because you would then look for some things in nature that carry out the work that you're trying to find. Abstract is the tool that you would use to see what strategies nature uses to do the job right. After using abstract design principles you would then use Emulating to come up with ideas and dressings that would best suit the type of project that is being carried out. After all the previous steps have been done you would then use the final tool which is Evaluating to check and see that the project you just did does what you wanted it to do.
The type of effect that biomimicry has in the environment is that it helps out because since we implement the ideas from nature to use for our own benefit there is almost no harm that would be caused in using it. Since its something that nature does already we do less and less harm to it and help more on the daily job that nature already does. Some of the things that I can learn from biomimicry are to use more nature friendly technologies in my life and to learn more about things that can be essential to human and nature life.
I think that I can implement biomimicry into my work by following the steps that are used in the Design spiral of biomimicry and to use more inventions of nature in some of my future work.
This is the Design Spiral:
