Photovoltaic cells

Some of our next projects are going to involve solar panels, because of this I did some background research on what’s involved. I learned a lot about Photovoltaic cells or solar cells. Solar cells are made from monocrystalline silicon wafers and are intended to generate energy from light. Solar cells are designated into three different generations showing when each became important. First generation accounts for 86.9% of 2007s production of solar cells. First generation cells are large and have high quality. Second generations are thinner and smaller in size but more energy and cost efficient. Third generations basically enhances some of the poorer quality electrical work and maintain lower costs of production. The idea behind solar cells is to have high efficiency  and to have a low cost per high amount of power generated.
